Join me as we explore the history of Brisbane's Cleveland Railway Line. Relying on primary source documents, I have meticulously researched  the line's history through the vast collections of the Queensland State Archives, the State Library of Queensland, the John Oxley Library, the Brisbane City Council Archives, and the Queensland Parliament's Online Tabled Papers. Contemporaneous secondary sources, as found in the digitised newspaper and journal collections of the National Library of Australia's Trove database, flesh out this extraordinary history. The line's opening to Brisbane and Redland's south-east bayside suburbs on the 1st of November 1889 facilitated the growth of industry and urbanisation which we will also explore by using the railway as our lens.
